Relay for Life
Relay For Life is a community fundraiser sponsored by the American Cancer Society where everyone can participate in the fight against cancer. Teams of 10-15 people camp out at Harry Allen Park in Honeoye Falls on a Friday in early June from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. and take turns walking, running, or strolling around the track. Each team is asked to have a representative on the track at all times during the event – because cancer never sleeps. The evening is filled with a festive atmosphere as team members enjoy music, food, and games. It also creates a unique sense of community. People fighting for a common cause – to eliminate cancer. The money raised is used to help prevent cancer, save lives and diminish suffering from the disease. It also raises the awareness of cancer prevention, early detection, treatment, and patient support. You can help by joining a team, forming a team of your own, or sponsoring a team.
